...conductors and insulators - I will make this potato be a conductor!!!

Worry Dolls...

English work based on 'Silly Billy'...

...a boy who worries about everything...

...plants...

...trouble is - we made worry dolls and someone said 'should we make worry dolls for the worry dolls?'  Where will it end!!!

We promise to try and blog more regularly in future!

Ancient Egyptian Day

To finish off our topic we had an Ancient Egyptian day on Friday.  We all dressed up, did Egyptian maths, Egyptian music, had a dress the mummy competition, had a build a pyramid using different types of construction materials competition and tasted Ancient Egyptian food.  It was a brilliant day rounded off by an invitation to parents to come and see what we have been learning and to taste the food,

Pyramid using Polygon

Pyramid using K'Nex

Winners of the dress the mummy competition - mummy in the middle!
They won because of excellent team work.

Mrs Rand Mrs K - joining in with the day!

Class 2 - remembrance day paper making

On Remembrance Day this year all activities were based on the theme of Remembrance. As part of this we took part in the whole school workshop on paper making.

We learnt how to make paper

Concentration and team work is required!

We needed to be organised and clear away immediately

Concentration and not much chatting!

We had a super workshop and the paper made
(on the theme of Remembrance) was excellent.
We will certainly be doing this again!

Rock Topic

Last term our topic was Stone Age to Iron Age and this term we are studying Rocks.  One of our parapetic music teachers Mrs Atkinson is a geologist and has offered to come into to teach us about rocks - brilliant as she has so many resources that we don't have.

Practical and quick rock erosion using sweets and sugar cubes!
Children really understood what erosion was after this lesson!

Getting ready for practical work

Demonstrating rock porosity

Everyone interested

Beginning to lock at different types of rocks - igneous, metamorphic or sedentary?

PE in Class 2

One of our favourite warm ups!

Special visitor to Class 2

Over the years we have encouraged special visitors into Class 2 and we have had kittens, guinea pigs, rabbits and dogs.  Our latest visitor was Wanda, Maddie and Elspeth's new dog.

She was very well behaved and the children were very excited to see her!  Thank you Mrs Barnabas for sharing her with us!
